An intensive 10-week program for tournament players designed to elevate your game through structured point construction methodology.
The Junior Excellence program at Eagle Tennis Academy is our premier training initiative for serious tournament players and varsity athletes, focusing on level-based singles point construction.
"Tennis is a Game of Position"
Where you are on the court determines the shots you should play. Our Level-Based Point Construction Curriculum teaches you to dominate every position.
Singles point construction is taught through a positional approach with players learning to advance one "court-level" per stroke with high consistency shot selection.
50-lesson intensive program over 10 weeks
Tennis-specific conditioning components
Integrated mental performance training
Our spiraling curriculum addresses a specific court-level each day of the week, with the 10-week program building from the previous week and progressing in difficulty while integrating increasingly advanced techniques.
Each week builds upon previous skills while adding new layers of complexity and game situations
Each day focuses on specific court positions and transitions between them
Technical, tactical, physical, and mental aspects all addressed in an integrated approach
Our level-based singles curriculum breaks down the game by player position. Each level represents a different court position, with specific shots and strategies appropriate for that position.
Use topspin, height over the net, and court depth with cross-court play for maximum runway. Seek to draw a short ball from opponent. Your primary weapons: Topspin + Depth.
Use arm extension, power, a low aim-point and court penetration with whipping topspin for dipping net clearance to drive your opponent back in the court and open up angles. Your primary weapons: Topspin + Power.
Use control, angle, and exaggerated topspin loop while maintaining a low aim point to attack a weak ball from your opponent which you can strike with both feet set well inside the baseline. Your primary weapons: Control + Angle.
Split-stepping on the Service Line, use cross-over footwork with a driving volley to perform a "shield-bash" mechanic, extending your arm aggressively towards the top of the net. Your primary weapons: Backspin + Arm Extension.
Finish points with a high volley or overhead smash using a chin-up, aim-down mental process and an extended-pronated mechanical process. Seek to end the point decisively from this level. Your primary weapons: Extension + Pronation.
By understanding and mastering the shots and tactics required at each of these five levels, our players learn to navigate the court strategically, turn defense into offense, and dominate points from anywhere.
Each week follows our position-based training model, with each day focusing on transitioning between specific court levels.
Practice shots from both Level-1 and Level-2, and execute transitions between them. Focus on moving from defensive deep court positions to assertive baseline play.
Practice shots from both Level-2 and Level-3, and execute transitions between them. Focus on moving from baseline play to aggressive inside-baseline positioning.
Practice shots from both Level-3 and Level-4, and execute transitions between them. Focus on approach shots and driving transition volleys from the service line.
Practice shots from both Level-4 and Level-5, and execute transitions between them. Focus on moving from transition volleys to decisive net play and point finishing.
Put it all together in match simulations and live play. Focus on strategy, mental toughness, and adapting to opponents with constraints such as 0-30 starts.
Our curriculum builds progressively over 10 weeks, with each week adding complexity and advanced techniques while reinforcing fundamental skills.
This foundational week introduces players to the core concept that tennis is a game of position. The focus is on mastering the fundamental stroke technique required for each of the key court positions.
Rationale: Developing consistent and effective strokes is the necessary prerequisite for chaining shots and constructing points from different areas of the court.
Week 1 DetailsBuilding on individual stroke mastery, this week focuses on linking two or more shots together to move from one court level to the next, introducing the basic concept of offensive progression.
Rationale: Players practice hitting a shot from one position and immediately transitioning to hit the subsequent shot from a more advantageous position.
Week 2 DetailsThis week delves into controlling the point from behind the baseline, which is the starting or defensive position for many rallies.
Rationale: Building on foundational strokes, players focus on developing high consistency with deep, spin-heavy groundstrokes and defensive positioning to neutralize aggressive opponents.
Week 3 DetailsProgressing forward from the baseline, this week focuses on playing effectively from inside the baseline.
Rationale: Players learn to recognize opportunities to move forward, take the ball earlier, and execute offensive shots. The emphasis is on setting up offensive patterns and applying pressure.
Week 4 DetailsThis week focuses on the front court, mastering the skills needed to finish points decisively.
Rationale: Building on transition skills, players refine approach shot technique and develop precision with volleys. They also practice aggressive net play elements like overhead smashes for confidently closing out points.
Week 5 DetailsHaving dedicated weeks to specific court areas, this week focuses on integrating those skills into fluid, dynamic play.
Rationale: Players practice seamlessly transitioning between different court positions during a rally. The principle of advancing "one court-level per stroke" is applied in more complex and realistic multi-shot sequences.
Week 6 DetailsMoving beyond fundamental point construction, this week introduces and refines more complex tactical patterns and strategies.
Rationale: Players work on specific tactical intentions like serve +1 plays and defensive resets. They learn to analyze match situations, understand opponent tendencies, and adapt their strategy accordingly.
Week 7 DetailsThis week includes a heavy workout component with a focus on 100% tennis-specific conditioning.
Rationale: Sessions cover crucial elements like agility, explosive movement, endurance, recovery, and injury resilience to build the physical foundation necessary to perform at a high level throughout tournaments.
Week 8 DetailsMental strength is just as critical as physical skill in tennis. This week intensifies the mental training component.
Rationale: Players engage in exercises focusing on mindfulness, focus, stress management, emotional control, and using rituals under pressure to build resilience during competitive situations.
Week 9 DetailsThis culminating week focuses on integrating all learned skills, strategies, and physical/mental preparation into actual competitive play.
Rationale: Players participate in intense match simulations and live play scenarios, emphasizing the effective execution of level-based point construction under pressure.
Week 10 DetailsOur Junior Excellence program provides comprehensive development across all aspects of the game.
Master tactical shot selection based on court position and develop high-percentage point construction strategies.
Gain fluidity in transitioning between different court positions and understand the optimal shot for each position.
Build tournament-specific physical conditioning that enhances court movement, endurance, and injury prevention.
Enhance mental toughness and competitive focus to perform under pressure during tournament play.
